In March 2020, the Covid-19 pandemic forced businesses around the country to shutter their doors and the hospitality industry was hit particularly hard. A few months later, the tragic and senseless deaths of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and Ahmaud Arbery reignited the American Civil Rights Movement. People felt stuck, scared, unsure of their futures, lonely, but most of all, many of us felt helpless because we couldn’t be out there on the frontlines with our community. So in July 2020, 4 bartenders, a chef, and a talented media team came together to exercise their right to protest the racial injustices that Black people have endured in America for centuries by using their talents to host a cocktail pop up with the proceeds of their efforts going to charities and organizations rooted in ending racial injustice for Black people.
In October 2022, I was proud to open our doors to 6 talented award-winning cocktail curators for the first ever in person Back to Black event. Collectively we raised over $2k for local causes.
